In many states, a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) or Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) is a non-tangible certificate that owners of a solar panel system can sell to their utility as proof that clean, renewable energy was generated. Each certificate represents the environmental value of one megawatt-hour (MWh), or 1,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh), of energy generated. Nexamp's solar farms generate these RECs, and by selling our RECs to utilities, we can then afford to provide community solar subscriptions at a discount and help our customers save money.
